Today, high trellis vineyard, which is a method widely adopted worldwide, provides a significant increase in crop yield compared to ground-level vineyards, and its positive effects on quality have been scientifically proven.
Project Objective
The main objective of this project is to increase productivity through the trial of a pergola-based vineyard system. It aims to take advantage of more sunlight in cool and humid regions, provide better ventilation, and protect fresh shoots and clusters from the scorching effects of the sun in very hot regions, thus increasing crop yield.
Our Accomplished Work as TABİT
As part of the project:
- We conducted trials with Trakya Ilkeren, Hatun Parmağı, and Crimson Seedless variety seedlings.
- 569 trees were planted in a 3-acre area.
Devices Used
Digital Pheromone Trap: It enables early detection of harmful insects, allowing for monitoring of their population and timely intervention based on the economic damage threshold, resulting in increased yield and quality of the crops.
Early Warning System: By considering parameters such as soil moisture, active temperatures, and leaf wetness duration, the system determines the appropriate time for pesticide application. This ensures the correct use of pesticides at the right time, leading to increased yield and quality of the crops while preventing unnecessary cost.
Drip Irrigation System: This system provides irrigation to plants without causing stress with less water. It requires lower pressure, resulting in reduced energy consumption. Drip irrigation has been shown to increase quality and yield in vineyards by up to 60% compared to dry farming.
Results
Throughout this project, various efforts have been successful in facilitating critical processes such as soil cultivation, irrigation, fertilization, disease and pest control, pruning, and harvesting. The pergola-based vineyard system and the technologies provided by TABİT have led to positive results in vineyard productivity.
